Bio on HOW DID I GET HERE! Or Why I do What I Do Now

I believe it's not what happens in life but what you do with it that counts.
Your life is a testament to your choices.

The Early Years, the major challenge was health.

I was born prematurely in 1951 resulting in lung weakness and allergies. I spent my first
three months in an incubator and went home to a linoleum floored sterile room (No stuffed
toys).  I lived indoors, avoiding everything and afraid to eat. I was deathly allergic to shell
fish, peanuts, preservatives, dyes, nitrates, anything in a tin, (it got too scary to eat ‘out
there')  MSG, aspirin, antibiotics, sulfur drugs and the list goes on. .  By age 19, I had
developed idiopathic urticaria, or ‘killer hives' from unknown causes.  I swelled so badly,
elephant man had nothing on me. One time I even scared away the cab driver who came to
take me to hospital. I carried an Epee pen at all times, used 4 different inhalers, lots of
drugs and cortisone (50mg a day for one 5 yr stint ballooning to over 236 lbs). I was allergic
to dogs, cats, horses, feathers, fur, grass, trees, pollen, snow and even rain. I basically lived
indoors until I was 34 years old.

"IT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU, IT'S WHAT YOU DO WITH IT THAT COUNTS"

Truly my life has been blessed.  The GOOD result is I was compelled to learn about natural
healing, inner connections, laws of the Universe and I became a great cook to boot (:

The physical was easy to see. Mentally and emotionally I had low self esteem, fear, worry,
doubt, and despair to cover the basics.. I learned to adapt to survive and was a People
Pleaser Extraordinaire!

My Dad was in the Medical Core, and we were raised quote "military catholic". (We had to
line up for church parade every Sunday). As a result of some personal disappointments and
confusions I walked away from my Catholic roots at age 16.  I am the eldest of eight
children and with both my parents and grand parents passed on, to date I am the oldest
living relative on both sides of our family. The ‘matriarch' if you will.  In my early years I was
peace maker, counselor, and surrogate mom and cook when Mom was busy with new little
ones. My early passionate dreams were of becoming a Ballet Dancer, a Doctor, a Coroner
(like Quincy), a Nun, a Lab Technician (like my Dad, which I am!), a Teacher and the best
Mom in the world.

FROM THE SEEMING DISASTERS COME THE BIGGEST BLESSINGS

Between 18 and 28 years old I worked in private and hospital laboratories from Calgary to
Vancouver. I married Andy at 26yrs, had our son at 28 and birthed our twin girls at 30. I
choose to stay home with the kids and for the most part life was good. In September 1985
Andy was the first Greyhound driver in Canada to be killed in a bus accident.  (Four drunk
young people had stolen some gas and where running from the police, coming out a side
road at 110 mph, hitting the bus hard enough to tip it over. Andy was killed instantly with a
head wound and sadly all four kids burned with their truck). I was a 34 year old widowed
Mom with three kids and my spiritual journey began!  It is like I went through a revolving
door and came out on this side. I found love with Pete and
Reiki.
(Pete and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary 2006).

"WHEN THE STUDENT IS READY, THE TEACHER APPEARS"

I was and continue to be blessed with the best teachers in my fields beginning with the
delectable Leah Smith...my Reiki Teacher. (Leah is the most graceful person I have ever
known). Embracing the relationship of Reiki has blessed my life in every way, every day.
From day one I began a daily practice of Meditation, Reiki and Conscious Awareness and
today, I am happy to report I am allergy free, a healthy 135 lbs, more energetic, vibrant and
healthy than I could have dreamt of being in my twenties. I can even eat peanuts! Did it
happen overnight? Not a chance. The journey of healing is multi layered and one step at a
time.

"I AM A SPIRITUAL BEING WITH A BODY HERE TO EXPERIENCE"

Life is not so much about finding yourself as it is about creating yourself. This personal
relationship with the Universe is the foundation of everything I do and teach. A perpetual
student of the Universe, I continue to seek and learn ways to address the mental, emotional,
physical and spiritual needs of people as whole beings. No separation. The combination of
my studies and diverse personal experiences on the journey has enabled a deep personal
rapport with most of my clients and students.
